HONORING THE ORIGINAL STEWARDS
The work of Ancient Azatlan would not exist without the guidance, permission, and support of the Indigenous families who have preserved and protected these lands for generations.
During nine field expeditions over the past ten years, we’ve been blessed to sit with elders, ceremonial leaders, and descendants of those who first discovered and carried these artifacts. Their oral traditions, cultural stories, and symbolic knowledge form the spiritual and historical backbone of this work.
We are not the originators of this wisdom. We are stewards and transmitters—tasked with documenting, preserving, and sharing these teachings with reverence and care.
“My grandfather said the stones came from the sky. He said the light beings left them here before the river dried out.” – Elder, name upon request—

A central purpose of Ancient Aztlan is to preserve the oral mythos of local family lineages who have lived in sacred relationship with the land and its ancient stones for generations. These families are more than caretakers — they are wisdom keepers, guardians of cosmic transmissions encoded in stone.
We hold it as a moral and spiritual duty to document and honor their traditions, ensuring their voices and legacy endure.
Explore firsthand accounts collected during our personal expeditions to Ojuelos from elders and descendants who have stewarded these relics for over four generations — stories that are not just history, but living transmissions of an unbroken bond with the stones.

We do not claim ownership of these ancient relics or the stories of this land. We simply serve as vessels to help bring them back into the light, so they may awaken others in respectful ways — As intended by the ancestors that encoded messages into stone for future generations.
